BAND MANAGEMENT DELIVER AN UP-BEAT END OF YEAR REVIEW:
During a recent end of season debrief meeting, Band Manager Alex Simpson, Pipe Major Pamela Whyte and Leading Drummer Mike Haggart all addressed the assembled 2018 Band Members. Their general consensus was the Band is in a healthy and stable state while performing very well.
Pipe Major Pamela Whyte was more than content with the Band’s performances within the competition arena. Numerous prizes were collected at Local and Major levels. Three top six places at the five Majors, including a second place at the Scottish Championships, was particularly pleasing.
Mike Haggart was satisfied with the Drum Corps’ development throughout the year. He placed on record his personal appreciation to every Corps Member for their dedicated application to practice.
Pam and Mike were of the opinion both Corps would benefit from the injection of some fresh blood. It was therefore agreed to embark upon a recruitment drive in an effort to bolster the Band’s membership with some quality musicians.
Alex Simpson noted that in Pam Whyte and Mike Haggart the Band was extremely fortunate to have such talented, dedicated and enthusiastic Lead Players. He thanked them, and the entire Membership, for their combined efforts on behalf of the Band during the 2018 season. In his opinion, Grampian Police Scotland Pipe Band was once again a force to be reckoned with at Grade 2 level. With the addition of a few new players and continued hard work, the recent progression in status will undoubtedly continue.
Alex closed the meeting by formally recording the Band’s huge gratitude for the continued financial support received from Balmoral Group. The graft now begins in preparation for the 2019 Competition Season!!!!
