During the past 2 years Grampian Police Scotland Pipe Band has invested in instruments and been practising extremely hard to enhance its sound quality and competition performances. This extended project has been carefully directed by Pipe Major Pamela Whyte and Leading Drummer Nicky Gibson.

These endeavours have reaped rewards during the 2017 competition season. To date the Band has been placed first in Grade 2 at the North of Scotland Piping Quartets, and the Dunbar, Banchory and Aberdeen Highland Games Competitions.

By far, the Band’s best performance came last Saturday afternoon at the European Championships held in Forres. A creditable 6th place was achieved, the first Grade 2 placing for the Band in almost 6 years.

Band Manager Alex Simpson said,

“Saturday’s result at Forres was very well deserved and just reward for many hours of hard labour in the Practice hall. Our near future goal is for the Band to become a consistent ‘top six’ Grade 2 performer at the Major Competitions.

I would also like to express the Band’s appreciation for the superb support provided by our principal sponsor, Balmoral Group. Their commitment and interest has contributed greatly to the Band’s positive development “.
